| I am wondering if anyone knows if the empty paint jars in the Artist aisle at Michael's are safe for GHSP? Anyone know what plastic is "safe" plastic?
Thanks! Denise |

| From Hunnybuns: It's a fact that the only plastic safe and compatible with Genesis paints and mediums is PETE.
So, I guess you have to make sure its PETE. PETE or PET stands for Polyethylene Terephthalate. ══(¯`•.¸.•°*°•. ✿ .•°*°•.¸.•´¯)════(¯`•.¸.•°*°•. ✿ .•°*°•.¸.•´¯)════(¯`•.¸.•°*°•. ✿ .•°*°•.¸.•´¯)══ ღஐƸ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒஐღ--Karen--ღஐƸ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒஐღ

| I didn't know that any plastic was ok for genesis. I learnes something new today I just use the smallest mason jar I could find. I know they are bigger than the jars ar Michaels, but I already had them when I started using them . LOL |

| Thanks Karen! Barbcox...only certain plastic is safe...like the containers that Genesis uses to store and sell their paints in. Mason jars! That is a good idea...but with my little bit of paint here and there and the dozens of mixes I end up with...I'd have them floor to ceiling! LOL! I bought a pack of the plastic containers at Michael's so I could check them out. I don't think they ARE the right type of plastic...even though they are packaged by Mona Lisa as "Buddy Cups". I looked up the manufacturer to see what they were made of and it appears they are made of "clarified polypropylene". I guess I could test it. I have alittle of the creasing and blush from the Ilaria class that I want to save, cuz I will probably never quite get the same mix again! Thanks again for the responses. I really appreciate it! | Find someone with a little baby and have them save you the small jars. I know there are really small jars that might work pretty good. I like the bananas so I bought a couple of those. YUM. |

| I bought the jars from Michael's and have not had great results with them. If your paint is mixed with thinning medium it will be ok, but if you are trying to save any mixes using liquid thinner of any brand, the jars all crack and leak and make a mess and the paint all dries up in them. Best to get the jars from Sandy or one of our other suppliers that sells the same jars as the ghsp comes in originally. So now I use those jars to store all my little fancy buttons and embellishments I use on my diaper sets and in my sewing generally. Great for beads if you use those for bracelets on your babies. baby hugs, Audrey |

| Straight from the manufacturer's mouth:
".........Denise,
I wish all questions were this easy. The GENESIS paints will not store well in polypropylene containers. Some of the materials will dissolve the plastic. They really need to be stored in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) containers. These type containers are designed for use with the solvents in GENESIS paints.
Steve........."
So.,...only PET plastic and glass containers.

| Thank you Karen, yes, you were spot on with your answer and I didn't doubt you for a minute. I only posted the response, because it answered specifically the question of the safety of the "Buddy Cups" by Mona Lisa. There is nothing on the packaging that states the type of plastic it is. From Steve's response...they are obviously not PET. Thanks!!!! Denise |
