| OK, I am changing the first part of this thread....so don't be confused! We are having the workshop July 13-14th. 9-5 each day with a break for lunch. We can cook in or go out to dinner Friday and Sat night. Kit and skintone will be decided soon. I am open for suggestions! From Rachel: We live less than an hour from the Gerald R Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids. I have enough space and tables for 10 ladies. I have an oven in the kitchen and an InfraChef oven, with space for additional portable ovens, if necessary. I have space for ladies to crash on the living room couches or the floor if you bring a sleeping bag. For those that want to stay in a hotel, there's a fairly new AmericInn within 5 minutes from my house. I have no problems providing lunches and there are plenty of restaurants nearby for dinner less than 5 minutes away I will be staying at the hotel, and I'll have a car, if anyone needs a ride to and from. I will also take a roomate as long as you don't snore. I am a very light sleeper! lol... | I don't work, but my hubby does, and we only have one vehicle...I'd have to rely on my parents probably to watch the kids and who knows how I'd get there...? |

| We did a lot of ride sharing in paris....I'm sure hitching rides isn't a problem. The watching the kids part, may be, though. ══(¯`•.¸.•°*°•. ✿ .•°*°•.¸.•´¯)════(¯`•.¸.•°*°•. ✿ .•°*°•.¸.•´¯)════(¯`•.¸.•°*°•. ✿ .•°*°•.¸.•´¯)══ Hugs, Lara www.angelsinwaitingnursery.com |

| Yes....I really hadn't thought of the children part. Shame on me! LOL They would still be in school then too. But we could have our choice of venues if we ended Thursday night. I am 6 call backs for the morning from "event planners" at the different area venues. One of them sounds like he is 15! LOL So won't know much until tomorrow afternoon I would think.
We can't use local camps either because that is when our area 6th graders are using them for camp. But I am continuing to dig.

| I still like the idea of having it at my house! I'm 3 minutes from AmericInn. And there's a KFC, Subway, McDonald's, Arby's, BurgerKing, Little Ceasar's, Applebee's, Big Boy, Meijer and K-mart in between, plus a Walmart and Taco Bell very close by, along with some locally owned restaurants, there's Chinese, Mexican... Oh, and can't forget Dairy Queen, within walking distance of my hosue! |

| Airports that provide some pretty good connections are:
DTW......Detroit Metro......we are the hub for Northwest
Lansing......... I am not sure who all service it other than United. But it is a decent airport
Grand Rapids.....not too sure about it as I have not gone there but my daughter has flown in and says it is convenient
Kalamzoo......is growing.......but worth checking for flights.
If we decide to have it near Chelsea then use DTW
If we were to use the Lansing area.........then either DTW or Lansing would be great
If we used the West Side of the state then Grand Rapids would be great alternative.

| Obviously, because of it's proximity to me, I've used Grand Rapids' Gerald R. Ford Airport a lot. I actually prefer it because it's not TOO big or confusing like probably Detroit can be. Lots of times, it's cheaper to fly in to GR than Detroit anyway. |

| Another potential venue: http://www.campskyline.org/#
It's in Almost, which is within 40 minutes of the Flint airport (FNT) to the west and 90 minutes of Detroit metro (DTW) to the east.
I know a few people who have worked there in the summer and say it's pretty nice. |

| I would never make it to detroit.....my hubby says it would definately be bad for me to drive there alone.....too much bad stuff up there.....crime wise, and way too easy for me to get lost |

| From where you live, you wouldn't have to come through Detroit at all -- just go up through Lansing and take I-69 until you hit M-53.
Also, for those who aren't familiar with the area, the Detroit Metro Airport isn't in Detroit proper. It's in Romulus, which is comfortably southwest of the city. I'm a tiny little pansy, and although I won't go to the city itself alone I've driven to the airport by myself many times. Nothing to be scared of there. |

Me too! I wouldn't take the workshop since I don't reborn, but I could pop in and meet everyone. Hey, I could help with food! (I'm 5 minutes from Rachel ) The GR Ford Airport is nice. My husband worked there for awhile. |
