I bought the halogen oven and it seems to do okay with the paint but is not really reaching the proper temp 265 when set at 265. I have to set it at over 300 , about 310 to get it to go up to 256 per the oven thermometer I put in the oven while heating. I'm getting chalky matt, which I know means underdone. What temps do you all use and what is your procedures for fully setting matte sealer????? notfair grrrr oho somad tantrum tuttut kuckoo-crazy us

Mine is set at 130 Celsius and I don't have a problem.

I always put in at 265 but add 3 minutes to regular bakes because it takes that long to reach the 265 mark on my thermometer.
For the matte finish, I put on 265 and go 8 minutes, stop it and turn the pieces and go 6-7 more minutes.
This works for me. The best thing is to use the thermometer and see how ling it takes to reach the correct temp

Good luck. It takes some practice with it but I love mine.

Hugs

Mine has power level settings instead of heat temperatures so I use power level 6 which gets it to about 260 and I cook the parts for 9 minutes ... 10 if it's the first bake of the day.

Okay great girls... I will set at 265 and see how long it takes to get there. SO it's more important to reach the temp but less as to how long it is at said temperaure. Correct??

No, its important to see how long it takes to get to the temperature..then add that onto the normal bake time. So if it takes 4 minutes to reach 265, you would add 4 minutes to 8 minutes on a normal paint layer. For a matte varnish layer, you need to bake at the temp for a minute or two longer.

I bake in the NuWave oven on Power Level 6 for 9 minutes. I fooled around with the oven thermometer in the oven as Karen suggested and saw that it did take several minutes to reach a higher temp. I add more minutes for glazing and matte varnish. So far, I have had excellent results compared to my lousy results in my regular oven. I really love the NuWave for my reborns. And I always use the extender ring too! Good luck, I think you will like it when you finally find the right setting. bigsmile dancingbaby

Carolyn, I can't reply on the oven temp but also keep in mind that chalky finish also means the mix of paints may need more thinning medium because if it isn't mixed just right the thinning medium will bake off before the heat set paints have time to, so there for you may get some chalky finish feel. Just wanted to say I have had this problem in the past and it was from the lack of thinner per mix. wink
