I used to use my oven all the time, but circumstances changed, so I started using my gun, and I use it almost exclusively now. As soon as I get started using my convection oven, I hope to use it for the all over paint layers, but will probablu still use it for small paints, like lips, veins and such that take just seconds to finish with the gun. The stove in my apartment is brand new as of Dec., so since it isn't my house, I don't think I should use it for this. I do very well with the gun, and have done so for over 2 years or so. I don't usually have hardly any shine either, but Lotus is the exception to the rule, her face being quite shiny, shinier than I have ever had a kit be. Since I have the matte varnish and can fix that, it isn't a concern, but wondering if it is the kit or the gun? Oh, well, as long as I can get rid of it, all is well. The biggest thing with the gun is to remember that it is VERY HOT, VERY FAST, 400F, almost immediately, so be careful not to touch it and have a safe place to put it down. Another thing is to ALWAYS use the cool down button for a few seconds. It will help you keep your gun longer. Whether you use it just for small detail work or the whole kit, just follow the saftey steps and all should be fine. I like it, and have 4 of them, lol. BOL on using
