I am wanting to buy a couple more drying racks but I thought I would ask everyone here what do you use to put your dolly parts on while they flash dry? I bought a drying rack from Sandie (blue pegs with a white base) and it's ok but not my favorite and I thought maybe everyone here could help me out by posting a pic of your drying rack......pretty please and thankyou!

My huband made mine. A 2x3 piece of wood and it is about 15 inches long or so. He drilled 5 holes into which he put pieces of dowl wood. Works beautifully. It will even go in theoven with te pieces on it!
hugs
Joy
BTW cost NOTHING to make as we have a ton of scrap stuff.

I found a piece of scrap masonite (about 15" x 17") and a 1/2" wooden dowel at Home Depot. My dad drilled holes in the masonite and put the dowels in. The dowels take up half the board and the other half is to lay a tummy plate on to flash off. bigsmile I love it!

I am very lucky. I have two wooden racks which I use for most of my reborn kits while painting and flashing off but then Mavie comes along and her limb holes are too narrow to go on the wood racks so I got my old drying rack out for her.

My husband made mine, too. We use a piece of 1x8 and wooden dowels from Home Deopt. I use them not only to dry the paint between layers, but to bake my babies too. Coated with Polyurethane they take the head and never warp and are cooler to touch than metal baking pans, so no need for pot holders when removing them from the oven. I actually have about 5 of them and use them for multiple babies when I paint as I am usually doing more than one at a time. Many some of my swap partners got them last season too! But I need to so some with thinner dowels for babies like Karen mentioned !!

Baby hugs,
Audrey

Thank you for all the great ideas ladies bigsmile I am thinking that making one would be better than buying one at this point because I really haven't found what I want online or in the art stores around here.

thankyou! for the link Karen. I saw this the other day at Target I believe and I wondered if it would work for a drying rack so you answered my question on that. And it's kind of neat that there is a middle compartment where I can store brushes. How funny that a baby bottle drying rack can be used for baby dolly part drying lol

My hubbie made mine as well only we used pvc pipes and t's I have 10 poles sticking up with dowels for the smaller kits I love it now I can't stick it in the oven to bake parts in but since I don't use an oven any longer to back parts it works great for me .... sherrie

Michelle, that particular rack also doesn't tip over. I had Ariella limbs on it and it never tipped. I was just too lazy to go into photobucket to find that picture. lol

I have one that my husband made for me out of wood and then I have this antique display thing for thread or twine or something that I got with some old textiles I bought a long time ago. I put it in the attic and never thought much more about until I needed something for holding up the parts while the paint dried. It works great...for once my packrat nature paid off.

I looked on bountiful baby, and couldnt find it either eyeroll Honestly, all you really need is a baby bottle drying rack. Thats basically what it is. You can get one at walmart or target.

here is the one bountiful baby sells I found it on google.
